The 7th Guest VR version is being developed with the approval and consultation of Rob Landeros, from Trilobyte Games, LLC, the original designer of the game. Arcturus brought the volumetric scenes to life as through optimization using their tools. The musical score written by Jonathan van den Wijngaarden also serves as a sincere homage to the original work of ‘The Fat Man’ George Sanger, with the added distinction of being produced with his esteemed blessings.



In de VR-remake kunnen spelers die sets in realtime verkennen terwijl de FMV-scènes zich afspelen. Als de spookachtige gasten nog steeds zouden worden afgebeeld met platte videoclips, zouden ze eruit zien als de uit karton uitgesneden sprites van Doom, die voortdurend naar de speler draaien. Vertigo had 3D-personagemodellen kunnen ontwerpen en deze kunnen animeren met prestatie-opname, maar het zou niet helemaal hetzelfde hebben gevoeld als video, dus in plaats daarvan nam de studio acteurs op met “volumetrische video”-opname.
According to Van der Meer, “you really have that sensation of being in the same room” as the actors when viewing the scenes in VR.
“It’s amazing to see how well the original capture translates over to the game,” he said. “A pleat in a dress, the movement of a jacket. And of course the performances of the actors. An eye roll, a smirk, all those subtleties you pick up on.”
