Augmented reality experience Hanseatic towns

The rich legacy of Hanseatic towns in the Netherlands and Germany is worth knowing. Is worth experiencing through immersive storytelling. That’s why Dutch Rose Media and 4DR Studios developed a vibrant augmented reality experience. Making the already impressive two-dimensional street art truly pop out.

A young supporter of Go Ahead Eagles tucking into a piece of Deventer cake, basket weavers practicing their skills at the recreational lake De Gouden Ham. Two examples of the murals by Artists’ collective De Strakke Hand (The Steady Hand) reflecting on the past. All with a twist to the present as every person on the wall lives in the here and now.
The Hanseatic towns sought to enhance and enliven the experience through augmented reality. Dutch Rose Media and 4DR Studios developed a dynamic augmented reality experience, including a smartphone app. At our volumetric video stage, we filmed two German and two Dutch actors and added the final shots to the app. Upon visiting the site, users can scan the mural, and promptly holograms of the Dutch or German actors share wonderful tales of the city’s history.
Once back home, the app remains a source of visual entertainment and surprising storytelling from all associated Hanseatic towns. This creative experience nicely shows how augmented reality and volumetric video can bring city marketing to the future.
