Steve Vai Joins Advisory Board of 4DR Studios
We’re proud to announce that world-renowned guitarist and visionary artist Steve Vai has officially joined the advisory board of 4DR Studios.
This exciting step follows a year of creative collaboration between Steve and our team, exploring the boundaries of music, technology, and immersive storytelling.
In 2023, Steve visited our volumetric video studio in Eindhoven for a full-body 3D capture session. That performance became the heart of the Zeus in Chains AR app—a unique experience that allowed fans to place a life-sized holographic Steve Vai into their own space via their smartphones. Fans around the world could view his performance up close, move around him, and even record their own footage. These user-generated videos were later woven together into an official music video, marking a new kind of artist-audience collaboration through volumetric media.
Beyond the creative work, Steve also mentored artists involved in the HYMNE project, a multi-artist VR concert experience developed by Dutch Rose Media in collaboration with Effenaar. His insights and encouragement made a strong impact on the next generation of immersive music creators.
Steve Vai’s deep interest in innovation, performance, and immersive expression aligns perfectly with 4DR Studios’ mission to bring authentic human presence into digital spaces. As a member of our advisory board, he will provide valuable guidance as we continue to pioneer the use of volumetric video in the fields of art, music, and beyond.
