The Essence of Presence, Chronosphere<\/a> | VR MaMa Producties<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The possibilities of building remarkable worlds and thus providing extraordinary experiences seem endless with the techniques for XR. But there really is one crucial flaw. The worlds we create now are devoid of life. There are no people or animals with whom we can share our experience – and if there are any, they come across as strange and contrived to us. On a subconscious level, we don’t trust these creatures. Our instinct tells us something is wrong. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, we do long for life around us – after all, we are group animals. We focus our attention mainly on each other and value the presence of kindred spirits. In fact, we value the presence of other people so much that in their presence we perceive the completely fictional world as more “real” and convincing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Essence of Presence” encompasses exactly this principle during the Chronosphere research. The boundaries of our traditional biases and what we experience as reality have been explored. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With The Essence of Presence project, human forms in different appearances and roles have been introduced in virtual reality. It also explored whether a pet had the same convincing presence as a human character. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Essence of Presence, a number of artworks were brought to life, by developing abstract art worlds for the user to walk through. By including animals and humans in volumetric video, we could enhance the intensity of the art, by allowing visitors to travel through a vivid and moving VR art world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Walking through the art world as they moved through real paintings was considered very realistic as they were guided by the volumetric characters and the dog. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The beloved dalmatian that was filmed has passed away since filming. The owners can still see and hear the dog in VR with volumetric video and acknowledge that the deep bond they felt when alive is still intact. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We can therefore say with certainty that the results of the study show positive results. To make your XR worlds more reliable and vivid, volumetric video is the most realistic and best choice!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
